Meet Jennifer Thies, our new Massage Therapist and Reiki Master. From early on she felt drawn to help and nurture others. She was fascinated by integrative medicine and avidly followed Dr Andrew Weil (founder of the Center of Integrative Medicine at U of A) as well as others. Her passion shifted for a bit after taking a class from an enigmatic professor of ecology. She moved to Reno 28 years ago to pursue a master’s degree from UNR in biological/environmental sciences. This led to a successful, meaningful career. However, life changes and illness brought Jennifer under the care of brilliant practitioners (massage therapists, Reiki Masters, physical therapists, and osteopaths). Her experience reignited her passion for healing and bodywork and she was determined to pursue these disciplines, to work with competent, compassionate practitioners, and to provide the kind of support that she received.

She completed her initial Reiki training almost 15 years ago and practiced Reiki as time permitted. When the opportunity arose, she attended the Truckee Meadows Community College Massage Therapy program. Jennifer graduated from the program in the spring of 2022 and has worked with clients that suffer from peripheral neuropathy, IBS, and autoimmune disorders. She has also treated seniors and athletes, including competitive weightlifters. It has been an exhilarating transition to integrate her science background and passion for healing in massage.

She still provides Reiki, but her focus is on massage therapies that include myofascial and trigger point release. Jennifer is also passionate about craniosacral work, and assisting individuals with nervous system or autoimmune disorders and looks forward to studying these topics in depth.

Reviews

“I have peripheral neuropathy, with loss of feeling and painful tingling in my feet. After a session with Jennifer, I was able to feel my feet so I could walk easier. The pain was also reduced while walking, lying or sitting. This was a wonderful relief during my chemotherapy treatments.” Linda Kleiner
